How can I take a break and still get everything done?

TRANSCRIPT

So you’ve got a lot to do and not enough time. You’ve got responsibility and people are depending on you. So you keep pushing, working more and more to get everything done. And you are tired. But you don’t have time for a break.

You might be dreaming of a long holiday and may even have one planned or booked for the future. But with these 2 tips, you can start your breaks today, and still get everything done.

Tip one: Preventative maintenance – Regular, short breaks

Take a break, even before you get tired. And if you are already tired, a 5 min break can still help you recharge. Taking regular, short, breaks will give you energy so that you can actually keep on going and do more.

Add 5 min breaks into your schedule: in the morning, afternoon, and evening.

And in your short break, do nothing. Set a timer on your phone if you want, and then close your eyes and just breathe.

You’re going to think anyway, so think about your breathing.  Nothing else, just breathe.

This will reset you for the tasks ahead.

Tip two:  Plan to 80% capacity.

You need that 20% for unforeseen circumstances, last-minute issues or requests. Then you can fit them in without getting overloaded.  And if you don’t get any issues, then you can take an extra break or start your next task early.

By doing these 2 things you can take breaks and get everything done.
