I Cut My Hair Because I’m Trying To Grow It – Why Our Weird Decisions Make Sense.

I’ve had a short asymmetrical hair cut for a while now. Wow, it must be years because it started in the covid times, and that was years ago.

I love the style, and I want to make a change. This change means I need to grow out the shaved side a bit. But there’s a problem. When it gets passed one centimetre it sticks up like cockatoo feathers, but I only have that on one side.

It looks ridiculous. You may have seen it when I’m at that “ooh I need to get a haircut” phase.

I want all of my hair to be longer, but the only way I can get there without looking completely mismatched, with bad hair day happening on just one side of my head, is to cut the long side too.

So now all of my hair is short.

Hey, you’re smart. You know where I’m going with this, but I’m going to say it anyway.

Sometimes we need to take some steps back so that we can move forward.

So think of one of your goals for this year. Maybe pick one where you are getting stuck, maybe it’s proving to be tricky to move forward. And you really want to make progress before the year end.

What might be a step back (in the short term), that will actually make it easier for you to make progress?
