It’s the time of year for reflection

by | Dec 4, 2018 | Coaching Tips Series, Creativity, Learning

This post is part of my special Coaching Tips Series. This series was inspired by my clients, and the core themes in their challenges. When we can apply these tips, we bring a lot of ease into our lives and step into our leadership.

It’s that time of year when we look forward to taking a break and start wondering “where did the time go?” What did we even get done this year?

To get beyond the superficial elements of tasks completed (or not), it’s helpful to tap into our deeper knowledge and understanding. So I recommend trying out this exercise

Sometimes in life we have situations where you just don’t know what you think. What are you going to do next in your career, or business? Or you’ve got a health challenge that you are dealing with. You don’t know what is right for you or how you feel about it. You want to connect to your deeper thoughts but you don’t know how.

I’m Amber from Amber Rahim Coaching and I’m a professionally trained coach.

I’m going to show you how to connect with your deeper thougths.

We have 3 brains. Scientists have discovered that we have neurons not only in our head brain, but also in our heart and in our gut.

We have been intuitively aware of this for a long time. It’s why we say:

“I’ve got a gut feeling…”

“Follow your heart”.

When you are trying to connect to your deeper thoughts on a topic, use all 3 brains.

Focus on each brain and ask yourself what you think. If you are struggling to connect to each brain, put your hands where you want to focus.

Here’s how you do it. Think about your topic.

Now focus on your head and ask: what do I think about this?

Listen for answers

Now focus on your heart and ask: what do I think about this?

Listen for answers

Now focus on your gut and ask: what do I think about this?

This simple exercise will help connect you with your deeper thoughts.

Over to you

I love doing my annual reflection exercise with my coach so much that I introduced it to my clients.

It’s called A Year in Review and my clients love it too. They get the questions upfront, then we go through them together during an hour long session. For the first time, I’m opening it up to the public.

So if you would like to get the most out of all you have done this year, join me by booking your own A Year in Review session.

Once you book, I’ll send you the questions so you can mull them over. Then we dive in during the session and find your gems.
