When I started my coaching business in 2014 I didnβt know what my business was going to look like, but I knew for sure that I wasnβt going to work 50+ hour weeks.
In fact, I wanted to do <30 hours a week, and be able to take all the school holidays off.
I wanted to build this new work life for myself and I wanted to be there for my kids and husband, and have time to my self.
And it worked.
The secret?
Protect my non work time, always.
Which meant I didnβt have time to do #busywork or waste time on useless shit that made me feel like I was doing something.
I made a lot of mistakes, did do things that turned out to be useless. But I didn’t waste hours on it. In between the mistakes I had time to be with my kids and had downtime where I could reflect on those mistakes too.
But I worked part time like I wanted. I learned from my mistakes relatively quickly.
I was rested.
And itβs not just me who can do it. Look at Marc Randolph (Netflix co-founder) here:
We donβt have to be slaves to our jobs to be successful.
