So you may know that I run a program to boost mental fitness and give you better access to your positive thinking (not to be confused with toxic positivity).
I don’t call it a bootcamp because that gives me drill sergeant vibes and it’s not like that at all. It’s much more gentle, and incredibly effective.
I’ve just wrapped up a program and I’m stunned anew at how amazing it is for people.
I saw faces of people who have reconnected to their best selves in a deep way.
People whose character shines through.
The level of confidence in themselves and where they are going, despite the rocky terrain ahead of them.
People who have become comfortable with taking care of themselves.
Choosing a vision for their own future, and committed to keep doing the work to make their lives better.
Isn’t that lovely?
And you might be wondering “this is all great that they feel better, but what did they get out of it?”
Well, apart from feeling better inside their own skin (can’t put a value on that), they:
- quietened the inner critics/saboteurs so decision making is much easier
- less micromanaging
- letting go of taking responsibility for everything. phew!
- breaking the perfectionism habit
- have purpose. They know what they want to focus on, and how they want to do it.
- have peace of mind. They know how to not let other people’s toxic behaviour ruin their day. Because there’s always someone somewhere sitting in a cloud of negativity, ready to share it with us. I bet something popped into your head right now, didn’t it?
- have a set of tools they can use for live to keep this going
But how did it happen?
It all started with curiosity. What is this mental fitness stuff? Tell me more. How can I learn more about myself? I love learning about how the mind works, I wonder what I can learn in this program? I’ve done a lot of personal development work, what’s new in this?
And other important questions like
How do I stop overthinking?
How do I stop putting so much pressure on myself?
How do I reduce my stress?
Who am I really?
I keep hearing about best self – who is my best self and how do I find it?
All these questions brought these people to the program.
And I want to give kudos to them all because the most vital part of their success was their participation.
They did the work.
Every time I work with someone and see them succeed I am reminded that it only happens because they take part.
Now I know I have impactful, let’s make this easy tools and programs to help people. But if they don’t participate…
If they don’t participate then I can’t do my brilliant work.
So if you are part of a learning program right now, check in with yourself: am I really participating as much as I need to?
If there is a problem to be solved at work or at home, check in: where am I sitting back? Where can I be more involved? What am I curious about?
All solutions start with curiosity.
