You’re Doing Something Right

You’re doing something right. Yes, you. With all the complexity of your work, of life, you are doing something right.

You don’t hear it enough so I’m saying it to you.

You are doing something right.

Look at where you are. That took work, choices, resilience, perseverance, a bit of luck, and some adventure.

You did that.

Well done.

I got a reminder this week to actually look at myself and see that I’m doing something right.

I’ve been working consistently on my process, knowing that the results would come eventually.

And some juicy opportunities have come my way.

Speaking engagements I’m excited about.

Longer term development programs that I get to design.

Being part of larger impact projects with dedicated resources committed and guarded.

All the things I have been working towards.

Some of those things are still in the pending stage. They’ve come to me because they want my expertise but we’re in the defining/agreeing stage.

Which is a normal part of the process, so no biggie.

AND it drives the controller in me insane. I just wanna know sooo bad if it’s happening or not. #NoPatience

So I’m excited and agitated.

Which means I forget to look at the reality.

I must be doing something right for these opportunities to come my way.

And I am.

I needed the reminder, so I know you would benefit too.

You are doing something right.

If you can’t say what you are doing right, right off the top of your head, then do yourself a favour and do this:

take 5 mins to make a bullet list of all the things you are doing right.

I spend a lot of time with clients looking at where they want to get to, and how to get there.

But this is one of the most important things we do: look at what good things you are already doing.

Who said you had to struggle all the way to your goals? Fire them.

Enjoy the ride instead.
