Being a good leader – there is so much information out there on this topic. But luckily, I’ve got the key, I’ve got the secret. (and if you recognise that reference, you’re as old as me ;0), you’re singing yeah yeah aha now, and there’s a lot of arm movement in your dancing)
To do anything well, the starting point is always to identify: what am I trying to do here? What’s the bottom line?
For leadership, it’s actually quite simple.
The Secret To Being a Good Leader
Your primary job as a good leader = help your people be successful.
That’s it. Nothing more.
Help them be successful, and they will do all the things they need to do to generate results, hit targets etc.
So what do you actually need to do then?
Well, let me be a good leader for a moment and ask you: what do you think it takes to help others be successful?
See, I knew you had the answers.
Whatever you thought of, go do that today.
p.s. It’s also normal to get stuck at this stage. You know what it takes, you’re just not getting there. Second-guessing yourself? You’re doing it but not getting the results? I can help you.
This is part of my Thought Piece Series where I explore topics related to leadership and provide both answers and questions. My intention is to start meaningful conversations that help us move forward. Want to connect? Click here.
